From Orlando to the Midwest — shaped by hard work and honesty

Carolyn was born in Orlando, Florida on a Navy base and spent her early years there — among alligators, scorpions, and snakes — before growing up in the Midwest. That upbringing shaped her values: hard work, honesty, and treating people right.

She has a diverse background. She played the flute and was a choir soloist. She worked in a hospital lab, starting as a file clerk in high school and being promoted within six months to phlebotomist and lab tech assistant — patients specifically requested her for blood draws because of her accuracy and gentle touch. She later became a veterinary assistant after an animal hospital persuaded her to join their team, worked on a horse farm, and helped with a couple of engine rebuilds (350 big blocks, of course).

Carolyn joined Options Insurance in March 2016. Outside of work, she stays active, spends time with family and friends, and works with animals — especially her chickens (all pets). She loves cooking, gardening, growing her own vegetables and flowers, and creating floral arrangements. She’s also a devoted fan of Supernatural.

What’s your core belief about how insurance should work?
I believe insurance should be simple, transparent, and work the way people expect it to when they need it most. Too often, policies are sold without clear understanding, which leads to frustration later. I focus on education and clarity so my clients feel confident in their coverage.
What frustrates you about the insurance industry?
What frustrates me most is how confusing and transactional the industry can be. People are often sold policies without really understanding them, which can lead to surprises at claim time. Because of that, I focus on education and clarity — I take the time to explain coverage in plain language so clients know exactly what they’re getting and why it matters.
What kind of clients do you love working with?
I enjoy working with clients who value a relationship and want to be proactive about their coverage. The best partnerships are with people who ask questions, want to understand their options, and see insurance as part of their overall financial picture — not just another bill.
