8 years of placement experience with the premier high-value carrier in the market. Here's what we've learned about Chubb — and why we reach for them when experience matters.
Chubb is the world's largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company, operating in 54 countries with $53 billion in annual revenue. In the United States, Chubb is the premier carrier for high-net-worth personal lines and the second-largest commercial insurance writer by direct premiums. Their AM Best A++ Superior rating is the highest possible grade — and their NAIC complaint index of 0.08 for homeowners is the lowest of any carrier in our portfolio. In J.D. Power's 2025 Property Claims Satisfaction Study, Chubb ranked #1 nationally with a score of 773 out of 1,000.
Chubb sells exclusively through independent agents — there is no direct-to-consumer channel. That means when you work with Options Insurance, you're getting the only way to access Chubb's products. Their Masterpiece policy is designed specifically for high-value homes, with coverage features that standard market carriers don't offer: extended replacement cost, agreed value on boats and automobiles, cash settlement options, and a reconstruction cost estimator that accounts for what high-end contractors actually charge — not what mass market carriers assume.
We have placed clients with Chubb since 2017 across high-value personal lines and commercial lines including cyber liability. The profile that belongs with Chubb: households with $1.5 million or more in home rebuild value, $3 million or more in net worth, and assets to protect across home, auto, umbrella, boat, and personal articles. For those clients, Chubb is not the cheapest option — and that's exactly the point. You get what you pay for. And when a catastrophic claim happens, Chubb performs.
After 8 years of placement with the premier high-value carrier in the market, here's what consistently sets Chubb apart — backed by third-party data and real client outcomes.
Chubb ranked #1 in J.D. Power's 2025 Property Claims Satisfaction Study with a score of 773 out of 1,000 — well above the industry average. Their NAIC complaint index for homeowners of 0.08 is the lowest of any carrier we represent. We had a water claim where Chubb replaced a kitchen, hardwood flooring, and carpeting — and then installed a smart whole-house water shutoff system to prevent it from happening again. That's what claims handling at this level looks like.
Chubb conducts their own reconstruction cost estimator — and they understand that high-end home contractors charge high-end prices. Their valuation of your home's rebuild cost will typically be higher than what a mass market carrier quotes. That's not padding — that's accuracy. Mass market carriers routinely undervalue high-end homes, leaving clients with a coverage gap they don't discover until they're filing a claim. With Chubb, the number is right from day one.
This surprises most clients. Chubb offers agreed value coverage on boats and automobiles — meaning if there's a total loss, you receive the full agreed value with no depreciation deduction. Standard market carriers use actual cash value, which accounts for depreciation and often leaves clients significantly short. For clients with high-value vehicles, classic cars, or boats, agreed value coverage is a material difference that shows up at claim time.
Chubb's cyber liability product is one of the most comprehensive in the market for businesses. In an era where virtually every business has cyber exposure — client data, payment systems, cloud infrastructure, employee records — most businesses are dramatically underinsured for this risk. Chubb's cyber product covers breach response, regulatory defense, business interruption from cyber events, and ransomware. For commercial clients with real cyber exposure, Chubb is our first call.
Chubb does not sell directly to consumers. The only way to access Chubb products is through an independent agent like Options Insurance. That's by design — Chubb's products require an agent who understands the client's full asset picture, can coordinate coverage across home, auto, umbrella, boat, and PAF, and can advocate effectively at claim time. This isn't a mass market product; it's a tailored solution that requires a tailored relationship.
Chubb holds AM Best's A++ Superior rating — the highest grade an insurer can receive. With $53 billion in annual revenue and operations in 54 countries, Chubb has the financial capacity to pay any claim, in any scenario, at any time. For clients with high-value assets where a single claim could be a seven-figure event, carrier financial strength is not a formality — it's a requirement. Chubb meets it without question.
Chubb is the second-largest commercial insurance writer in the United States. Their commercial products match the same quality standard as their personal lines — and their cyber liability is best-in-class.
Chubb's cyber liability product is the standout in their commercial portfolio and one of the best in the market. Coverage includes breach response costs, regulatory defense and fines, business interruption from cyber events, ransomware extortion payments, and data restoration. Most businesses are significantly underinsured for cyber risk — Chubb's product is built for businesses that take this exposure seriously. Policies available for businesses up to $30 million in revenue.
Chubb's commercial GL reflects the same quality standard as their personal lines — comprehensive coverage forms, robust defense provisions, and an appetite that extends to mid-market businesses with up to $30 million in revenue. For business owners whose personal lines are also with Chubb, consolidating commercial coverage creates a seamless protection picture.
Chubb brings the same replacement cost discipline to commercial property that makes their personal lines standout — accurate valuations, comprehensive coverage, and financial strength that can handle a significant commercial loss without hesitation.
Chubb's E&O and professional liability products are well-regarded for mid-market professionals — financial advisors, consultants, technology professionals, and executives with significant personal exposure. Their coverage forms are comprehensive and their defense provisions are among the broadest available.
Chubb writes workers compensation for mid-market businesses with clean loss histories. Their risk management resources and financial strength make them a compelling option for employers who want a carrier that can handle a serious workers comp claim without the friction that smaller carriers sometimes create.
Cyber note: If your business handles client data, processes payments, or relies on cloud infrastructure, you have cyber exposure. Most standard commercial policies do not cover cyber events meaningfully. Chubb's cyber liability product is designed for businesses that understand this risk and want real coverage for it.
No carrier is perfect. These are the honest trade-offs that come with choosing Chubb — most of which are features, not bugs, depending on your perspective.
Chubb is not the cheapest option in our portfolio — not by a significant margin. Their premiums reflect the coverage depth, claims quality, and service level they deliver. In our experience, clients who shop Chubb on price alone and then balk at the premium are often not the right fit. As we say internally: if you're going to nickel and dime the cost, be prepared to be nickel and dimed at claims time. Chubb is for clients who understand that insurance is a promise, and want to know the promise will be kept.
Chubb's reconstruction cost estimator produces an accurate valuation of what it would actually cost to rebuild your home — which is typically higher than what a mass market carrier quotes. That higher insured value creates a higher premium base. Some clients initially push back on this. But an underinsured home is a financial catastrophe waiting to happen. Chubb's approach protects you; mass market undervaluation does not.
Chubb's digital experience — app and online portal — ranks below competitors in J.D. Power's digital experience studies. For clients who want to manage everything from their phone, Chubb is not the most seamless experience. However, Chubb's target client typically values agent-managed service over self-service digital tools — and for those clients, the gap is largely irrelevant.
Chubb stopped writing new policies and limited renewals in California in recent years due to wildfire exposure. For clients with properties in California or other high-risk states, availability may be limited. In Minnesota, Chubb is fully available. If you have properties in multiple states, we'll verify availability in each location before placing.
After 8 years of placing high-net-worth clients with Chubb, here's an honest picture of who belongs with them — and who we'd steer to a different carrier.
At the high-value end of the market, Chubb's primary comparisons are other premium carriers. Here's how Chubb stacks up against Travelers and AIG Private Client Group — the three most commonly considered carriers for the $1.5M+ home profile. We represent both Chubb and Travelers; we don't represent AIG.

"We place clients with Chubb when experience matters. When my high net worth clients just want to be taken care of when catastrophe strikes, I reach for Chubb. The agreed value coverage on boats and autos, the accurate reconstruction cost estimator, the cyber liability product — these are things that show up when it counts. And after 8 years of placing with them, their claims handling consistently exceeds expectations. The water claim where they replaced the kitchen, the floors, and then installed a whole-house water shutoff system? That's Chubb. That's what this level of coverage looks like."
